Day 27 June 2, 2011 Plaster Rock 30km

2 Jun

We didn’t get up early this morning.

Thanks to the Canucks game we didn’t go to sleep until around 1am so I didn’t find myself running until 9:30am. Again the road was beautiful, and I think I’ve figured out how to add photos to my blog so here’s a picture of the road.

The run went well, and as planned. I again taped my hamstring but it only lasted for the first 15km before falling off. There were no interesting animals today, just a couple of deer and rabbits hanging about. I finished at 1pm about 10km outside of Plaster Rock.  We drove back to the lake for lunch and discovered that it had dumping facilities, and fresh water, and that it was all apparently free as the tourist park had not yet opened for the season.

We were a little late leaving Plaster Rock, and I wanted to do laundry, as I had no running kit left at all. We stopped at Hartland, home of the world’s longest covered bridge to use the Laundromat. Like all Laundromats it seems the machines took loonies and there was change machine that gave only quarters and of course there was no one around to make change for us. So the vast majority of my clothes came out damp. There was also a self service car wash that we tried to use but the MCC wouldn't fit although we did managed to spray most of the dead flies off the front.

Tomorrow I’m going to Yale for my 10-year college reunion. It will give me three days to rest my hamstring and hopefully I can find some physio while I’m there. I had originally wanted to bring my running gear as there’s a great run up East Rock that I used to do all the time when I was there but I think it’s better to give my leg a rest.

I’ll be back at it on Monday.

Go Canucks!!!!!!!!!!!
