Day 57 July 2, 2011 Middle of Nowhere to Madoc 51km
2 Jul
Barenaked Ladies
It seems like it keeps getting hotter and hotter. Usually I’m all for hot summers, but I’m starting to wish for it to cool down a little so the running is easier. I consumed a lot of fluid again today. It’s hard to keep up. Despite drinking around 20 pounds of fluid during the day I lost over 6 pounds during my run. It’s hard to actually drink that much fluid and keep up with the losses. I don’t really even feel like I’m sweating that much because it’s so hot it evaporates of me fast.
Sarah ran with me for a portion of the day. It really makes the time go faster having someone to run with. The wrap on the MCC looks so much better than the factory design and everywhere we go people are stopping to look at it.
I finished in the small town of Madoc and then we drove to Peterborough where Sarah was going to catch a bus into Toronto tomorrow.
We went for dinner at a pub called Riley’s (sweet name!), which was delicious but served way too much food, even for Mike and I. I ate until I felt like I was going to burst and there was still tons of food on the table.
As we were eating we noticed a number of people walking by the pub with lawn chairs. We asked the waitress where everyone was going and she said there was a free concert two blocks down by the lake and that the lead singer of the Barenaked Ladies was playing. I love the Barenaked Ladies!
So after dinner we headed down to the lake and caught the last hour of Steven Page’s show. It was awesome. The stage was in front of the lake and everyone was sitting on the grass in front of the stage.
We spent the night in the nearby Canadian Tire parking lot and experienced one of the strongest thunderstorms I’ve ever been in overnight. Our RV was rocking back and forth all night.
