Day 24 May 30, 2011 Day off in Fredericton
30 May
As if my hamstring wasn’t enough, now I’ve got gastro, maybe from food poisoning.
9:10am I found myself at Range of Motion physio where I met Stephen. We talked about my run, he told me about his brother in law who was an anaesthesia resident at the University of Ottawa, and he gave me some ultrasound and stim. At the end he also put on some black elastic tape that was supposed to help with recoil of my leg and take some of the pressure off my hamstring.
After physio we walked around Fredericton. It was a warm (25C) sunny day and I was starting to feel a bit better by lunchtime. We got a recommendation from City Hall on where to eat, and wandered over to Dolan’s restaurant.
After lunch we walked around the old garrison district and along the water. I started to feel a little unwell again by the afternoon but we still had to find a measuring tape so we could get the dimensions of our Mobile Command Centre in order to get it wrapped in our sponsors and logos.
By the end of this I felt really unwell and ended up taking a 2 hour nap after which we drove to Hartt Island RV park to again empty our septic tank and fill up with water. The RV Park was really nice, on a river, and had a water park, mini golf, big field, and shops. I’m beginning to understand the allure of having an RV. We decided to get dinner before driving back to just outside Miramichi. We ate at East Side Mario’s. I still wasn’t feeling that well and so Mike ended up eating most of my dinner as well as his own. I’m losing weight and Mike’s gaining weight. Pretty soon I think we’ll cross and I’ll be lighter than him.
The drive back to our starting point was long, so I tried to update my blog, but it was too bumpy. After countless days in New Brunswick seeing warning signs about moose crossings yet seeing no moose, we finally happened across one by the side of the road. It was the first time I think I’ve ever seen a real moose. They sure are big and lanky. By the time we reached our destination it was 9pm and I went straight to bed.
Between my hamstring and food poisoning, it wasn’t the most pleasant day off. Hopefully all will be well by tomorrow.
