Day 1 – Cape Spear
7 May
The day began on the cliffs of cape spear on a foggy wet morning. After collecting a few samples of water from the Atlantic and taking a few pictures I was off on the start with Sarah running beside me. First thing I noticed about Newfoundland, besides the beautiful scenery, is the abundance of trash littering the side of the road. 10 km into the run and I we had passed 3 toilets, 3 TVs and 2 mattresses strewn on the side of the road.
The first 20km felt pretty good. The hills of Cape Spear gave way to the sidewalks of Topsail Rd. The second 20km was a little slower, and a little wetter. At the end of the day though a great start to this adventure. It was great having my Uncle and Grandfather here at the start to support me.
